On October 7 I will be participating in a 6 week online training course offered by the Sydney casting director, Greg Apps called CREATING COMPELLING CHARACTERS.
In recent years, more and more actors are required to audition not live but by doing self-tapes, meaning, they have to film themselves performing their audition scene(s). This has presented many challenges for the actors. We have to learn the technical aspects of filming those scenes - camera frames / angles, lighting, sound, editing, compressing files and uploading. What is crucial though, is how we interpret and perform the roles we are being considered for. THAT is what Greg Apps is concentraing on with this new online course. Over the next 6 weeks, we will be digging deep, into creating characters so compelling, that hopefully casting directors won't want to click to the next self tape video.
